internships

guess i will be the first to start....anyone got any internships? anyone know of any for an aspiring linguist? I sure don't. :)

Check out some schools (possibly your own?) that have grad programs in Linguistics. You might be able to get a job as a research assistant. Talk to your profs.

Also, in the non-internship category, you might check out the Middlebury College summer language programs, which are fabulous; a summer there is supposed to equal roughly one year of undergraduate study and you can start in a brand-new language: http://www.middlebury.edu/academics/ls/

I agree w/ wondering. My friend Kevin attended the Portuguese summer program at Middlebury this past summer. He had never really studied that language before, and he said it prepared him enough to spend this coming semester in Brazil. Then again, he's really good w/ languages.
