Internships

I know that USC students often get great internships in Los Angeles but for people out of state, what cheap transportation near campus can be used to get there? I have only been to Los Angeles once in my life so if theres an obvious answer don't laugh at me.

you can stay in a dorm and take the university tram to the keck school of medicine (assuming u want to do the keck internship) for free.

i was thinking more of an internship in the field of business

Although public transportation is not LA's best feature, many students have business internships in Downtown LA - which is only a 5 minute drive away. There is regular bus service from the University Park area to the downtown area.

If your internship is in West LA, or further away, you will really need a car.

i dont know how reliable a source this is but i saw on the show 24 there is a subway like system in LA, is there anything like that by USC?

There is indeed a moderate subway system in Los Angeles, but unfortunately there are no stops near USC.

One easy way to get to the subway is taking the free USC shuttle to Union Station downtown.

The city bus system is extensive and numerous bus routes go right by campus. It is very easy to get downtown, though destinations further away may require a lot of time and bus transfers.

The DASH (which has stops around the perimeter of campus) takes you to downtown LA. It costs a quarter and comes about every 10-15 minutes.

where are all the good communication/journalism internships located?

okay, well at least usc has SOME kind of public transportation. Atlanta likes to PRETEND it does, but marta is a joke!
