Internships

ok what do u think of these internships for high school students ?

Summer Internships for High School Students (Boston & NYC)

any opinions ?

I’m not familiar with the company, but it looks like the usual (extremely) expensive, pay to play opportunity, with the usual pros and cons that go along with any of them.

Was this the internship that you referred to in your earlier thread?? Because the responses you got were not necessarily for the type of internship program that you play thousands of dollars to participate in.

No its not the same internship I just wanted to know what you guys would think of it.
Actually although theres expensive but i think there really good i mean they could find an internship for any high school student within his goals which is a good think but at the same time you also have a point.

what do u think the pros and cons are?

The main pro is that it may help you to see what it really means to do a certain job, and give you better insight on if it’s the right career for you. While course work is great, for many careers, it really doesn’t represent what you will actually be doing in the real world, so internships can be helpful. As far as college applications, it will help show your interest in a particular field and is better than doing nothing all summer.

On the con side is of course the high cost, which may or may not be worthwhile, depending on what you get out of the internship. As I stated before, since this is not a competitive program and since only some students can afford to attend, it will give little if any boost on college applications.

Please understand, I’m not saying that expensive summer programs cannot be helpful or interesting. But I think that a lot of rumors are spread that they will substantially help in college admissions for selective schools.
