I'm a first generation Korean, but both my parents grew up from elementary school on in the states. They are both pretty liberal about dating unlike the asian stereotype. Living in Hawaii i've dated white, asian and multiracial girls before, I'm just wondering if there is still prejudice against interracial dating/couples. UVA is very high on my list of schools (i'm a junior) but having never lived in the south, a few of the social aspects worry me a little. I've never been the type to only hang out with other asians, my best friends are of many different backgrounds but that could just be because i've grown up in many different states.

Been there, done that, gotten flak over it. You just have to have enough of a thick skin to shake stares and attitudes off. And I'm sure UVA is a large and diverse enough of a community for there to be at least a decent number of people with openminded enough hearts for you to find peers.

I don't think UVA is that provincial that you'd be ostracized for dating a girl of another race. I believe also that UVA is diverse enough to handle it.

Hypebeast, you are kidding, right? Why not visit UVa and dispel some of your outdated attitudes about Virginia.

Hey, it was a valid question, no need to diss him about it. A lot of Asians have refused to come to UVA because of its reputation as a Southern school unfriendly to Asians, so think before you speak. =)

Hypebeast I've seen plenty of interracial couples here, as long as you don't make a big deal out of it, no one's going to make a big deal out of it.

Ahhh... well the thing is just to ignore it. I don't think that college students would care too much, but the general population in C'ville can be annoying sometimes... people stare at you and all but who cares. If they are uncomfortable, they can deal with it themselves.
