I’m thinking about applying for an internship with a senator who lives in my town…

Does anyone know if

Senators take interns?

What’s it like?

What do you do?

I’m pretty clueless so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I realize this post is very old, but for people looking in the future:

Senators do take interns.

It depends on your skills, sometimes they are very lame (office lackey) and sometimes you do fun things (like go to briefings and take notes, etc)

Also, for those who cannot afford to stay in DC and intern, most senators have local offices that accept interns in your home state (and in many locations, not just the capital).

I recommend applying early, and checking their websites for due dates and requirements. It's not generally too difficult, but they usually make you jump through hoops to separate any people who are not truly committed.
