My son was contacted to schedule an interview today, although the ED cycle was "closed" according to the message online. Do you think this interview will be considered for ED? Before Friday?

When I went to visit, I overheard that the interview has no effect on the application from the admissions desk. A parent had called about interviews, wondering if theirs would ever come, and the student who answered the call had to ask the staff for the answer. They said interviews are given throughout the process because they have no weight in the application.

If that is true, then why do interviews at all?

let graduates of penn have some connection to their school

let the applicants learn more about penn

It’s also possible that you may have been already deferred.

^This is certainly possible. My dad does interviews for another very competitive school and whenver a student is close, he/she is on the top of his list to interview, followed by the safe students (easily admitted), followed by the deferred students followed by the rejected students. This isn’t at Penn though, so their process may be completely different.

^ Congratulations! You have just completely crushed my confidence – I was literally the last person my interviewer interviewed.

At least you got one >.>

I got my interview the first week of november, so according to kyle, I’m “close”?

Haloshots, i hope kyle is right in what he said. I was contacted in Early November as well! GOD BLESS PENN!

I was contacted in mid-ish late november, so does that make me an easy admit …?

Yeah there is no credibility to what the above poster said. I wouldn’t worry about it.

November 19 me! D: This is not cool D:

No! The timing of the interviews has no significance whatsoever. It is a product of the interviewer’s schedule and sheer randomness.

I wonder if whartongrad could weigh in on this?

Until then I shall take solace in the fact that there are a lot of applicants from my area and to interview them all wouldn’t be feasible.

My interviewer told me he didn’t even have access to my application, so there was no way of him knowing who was “close” or who was “far off.”

Guys I heard if your interviewer was wearing blue, you were rejected.

Phew. She was wearing black. I’m safe.
jkjk. Yeah whatever. I guess all we can do is twiddle
our thumbs and wait.

Twiddle twiddle twiddle! I’m going insane!
