Hey guys, I have an interview tomorrow at Abercrombie and I have no idea what to wear to my interview. Right now, I'm thinking of either wearing a completely white Ralph Polo Lauren with blue Levi jeans with white Air Force Ones or wearing black slacks, a blue shirt with small white stripes, and leather shoes. Which one should I wear? Anyone have any other suggestions? I really need this jobs. All comments and suggestions appreciated. Never had a job interview like this before haha.

I’d go with the blue shirt, slacks, and leather shoes. That just sounds extremely attractive :)

Don’t wear Polo to interview for a job at Abercrombie. My friends work at Hollister and Abercrombie and you need to dress like the people that already work there.

^^I agree.^^ One of my daughter’s best friends works at Abercrombie and definitely wore their clothes to the interview. She was hired on the spot. They are looking for people who fit their “look” and image in their clothes. Hope this helps! Good luck. :)

Nice jeans and a button down shirt might be good enough honestly. Obviously you need to look professional but fit the brand.

Hearing protection! I am serious. If you get the job, you should have your hearing tested before starting, so that if your hearing deteriorates from the loud music, you can file a workers compensation case and get your hearing aids paid for.

(It’s Hollister that I’ve actually experienced, but I’ve heard that their sister company has the same volume level.)

Things from their store, without going totally overboard. Like maybe a shirt and jeans from there, but stick to nice sneakers or leather shoes. Also, I would not recommend wearing their clothes outside of the store, but that’s just me.

Agree with Jen8675309 (cute!) and other Ohiomom.

Oh yeah I interviewed there once. I can’t remember what I wore… button shirt and some nice slacks I think; nothing unusual.

Of course, I didn’t get the job. I didn’t really want it though, just went for the experience. It’s a group interview. When they asked what image I associated with Abercrombie I said I pictured three drunken frat bros gangbanging a passed out coed on a pool table. They didn’t find it as funny as I did.

^ Have you interviewed for any comedy writer positions? May go over better there.

This is one case where you need to ignore (almost) everything you’ve ever read about dressing for job interviews.

Dress as if you already work there. So khaki pants or jeans, a polo or long sleeved tee, and sneakers or flip-flops. They do not have to be A&F, but if they are not the brand name cannot be visible (this includes jeans that have distinctive stitching on the butt pockets).

I worked at Hollister and these were the rules for the dress code for guys to my knowledge. The rules for girls were very similar (jeans or jean shorts, tank top or tee, flip flops, no other logos). If you’ve been into their stores you know exactly what to look like.

I bet you didn’t get the job. You didn’t say what job and you didn’t write back to say how it went. If it was a job in a store, you should have worn their clothes. If it was a job in their corporate offices, you should have worn one step up from what most workers wear there. If you were worth hiring, you would have written us back to relate your experience in order to help others.
