I scheduled my interview next week at a coffee shop and I was wondering what the proper attire was. I was think about wearing slacks and a shirt but no tie. Is that going overboard/overdressing or are the georgetown interviews usually somewhat casual and informal since its an Alumni interview?

I’d say that’s good. The tie would be overkill. I have friends who have done interviews for top tier/Ivy schools and that seems to be the standard attire. Hope that helped. =)

I just had my interview today. I came dressed in khakis and a button-up shirt, and my interviewer later said that I “looked like a Georgetown kid” lol. So I think I was dressed about right. My interviewer was wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt and jeans, but I didn’t feel overdressed.

This is totally irrelevant, but I’m so jealous of you boys. I wish it was that easy for girls to pick out what to wear to interviews—simple as tie or no tie?

easier for girls than it is for guys?
If I was a girl I would come in the skankiest clothes I could find hoping my interviewer was a perv and would write a good review about me.

@UVAorBust, I don’t know who you are, where you’re from, your ethnicity, or even your cultural traditions, but that comment sickens me to the bone. The fact that you would sell your body like that to someone is disheartening and disrespectful for humanity as a whole. I think you should seriously, seriously, reflect on that comment, and please edit appropriately. To think if my daughter were to read your last post, ideas would be put into her head that, well, I just do not think I could get out. For the love of the land, please sir, edit your post.

You have a daugther at 17 years old… I believe you should look over your morals sir… I can’t sell my body, I’m not Roxanne, and I’m not going to sell my body to the night.
