Interview attire

I would like to know what you wore to your Andover student interview. I heard that you should dress according to the school's dress code but that seemed too casual.
Coat and tie?
Button down no tie?
Polo and khakis?

Any info would be great!

My daughter wore a gray suit to all her interviews no matter what the dress code was. The admissions people all commented to me that she seemed to be a well poised, mature girl. I think the suit helped convey that impression to her as well!

I say, over-dress.

I say dress how you feel comfortable. I wore jeans, and a button down to all of my interviews, because that was how I felt comfortable. As my aunt told me "dress like yourself, because you want the schools to want you for who you are, not some false persona."

When I went there, there were a bunch of other applicants and they were dressed really formally (guys: ties, suits, girls: knee-length skirts, blouses), and I felt really under dressed, but I got in anyway so I don't think it matters.

I definitely wouldn't underdress for any interviews, at least wear the school's dress code it's only polite. However, I do agree for andover that since they have no formal dress code I wouldn't just wear whatever (aka jeans). I wore a nice cable knit sweater and corduroys (I'm a girl though so I'm not sure exactly what this translates into for boys). I found that I looked dressed up enough for being with all the other interviwees but not overdressed for just touring around campus.

And I would suggesst not "overdress"ing for an interview either. I mean, if you feel overdressed that's going to show. There were lots of people when I went to my interviews dressed in a coat&tie and while some of them looked really well presented I would say the majority of them looked uncomfortable. And too add even the slightest bit of uncomfort to an already challenging day seems unnecessary, the admissions officers are evaluating you and your personality, not if you have the nicest/most formal outfit around.

You really can't go wrong with coat and tie. Why risk it?

Sorry I didn't see you were a girl. I'd go with a skirt and a nice top.

I'm not a girl haha. Where did you see that?

Wore casual, neat clothing (docker style pants and button down for a guy)...be yourself while looking respectful, clean and within the dress code. Got accepted so maybe it's a good plan!

i just wore a tie and flip flops....nothing else! it worked for some and not for others...just depends what the inteviewer is looking for (at)...

i wore a pair of black pants, my uggs (probably not the best to wear though), a nice sweater, and a turtle neck.

nice black pants, a nice long sleeve, and some flats

I wore A cute black skirt I made (Great conversation peice...if things get slow) A white blouse... a Lose black and white tie (I have to thank my brother for tying it for me... lol) and knee length black boots.

I got many comlpements...This was for Asheville though so...
