Interview but decide later not to apply???

So I'm an international student who got accepted ED to Cornell. It's not that I don't want to go to Cornell (I'd be more than happy to go there), but it's impossible to predict FA for internationals since Cornell gives limited aid to internationals. Honestly, I don't have hopes up for Cornell FA since they only give so much FA to internationals.

So if I go to my MIT interview and then I find out about my FA package from Cornell that I can actually afford to go there, what do I do (e.g. do I tell my EC not to write my report? Do I email MIT saying that I got an interview but I'm not applying anymore?...)

My MIT interview is scheduled to be tomorrow, so please reply ASAP.

I think if you just don’t send in your application, you’d be fine. You could also email MIT admissions just to be courteous. Take this with a grain of salt, though. I’m not 100% positive.

You should check Cornell’s ED terms – most schools require you to formally withdraw other applications after being admitted ED.

Personally I would just follow through with the app, I mean you already paid the fees right? Even if Cornell offers you a generous aid package and you are 100% sure you will attend it couldnt hurt to write an essay or two and play the admissions game for fun, somthing I think alot of us would envy/like to do because with out a saftey net everything means so much more…

I suppose if you really dont want to follow through with the app then just send your EC an email, they will understand, and if not then whats the worse that could happen?

^I would like to +1 mollie’s post. I’m pretty sure you’re not “allowed” to keep applying to schools once you’ve been accepted ED. Now do people do it anyway? Maybe…but it’s not only unethical but can also get you in BIG trouble. Check it out:
