My son recieved an email the other day from admissions saying something like "according to our records, you haven't interviewed". He interviewed back in November, so we're kinda wondering whether he's gonna get hosed just because of poor record keeping. Anybody else experience this?

Sort of. My son was accepted ED. I had to fax them our copy of his SAT scores because they were having some kind of trouble with the College Board and still hadn't received them 6 weeks after they should have. (I noticed others on this board reporting the same problem at U of R during the fall.) Also, we noticed that the online status page wasn't always accurate. As for your situation, you should definitely call the admissions people immediately, if you haven't already, to straighten this out. We have talked with the admissions office several times while going through the process, and they have been extremely helpful and pleasant. I'm sure they'll fix the record right up.

really? i think you just saved me a lot of stress, while creating more at the same time, CatherineFM.. i have the same SAT problems (only it's been 2 months now).. so it's ok. but now i have to call sometime, and i don't get home from school till after 6.. the last time i emailed them i didn't quite get a meaningful response. hmm. i need to figure something out.

CatherineFM...I don't have as much faith in UR fixing the record right up. This is the third screw-up. When my son logged on to continue work on his application a couple of months ago, the system had "decided" his app was complete and sent it on to admissions. He had to phone them so some IT person could put the application back into his account. While talking to them, he thought he'd get them to confirm the interview appointment he'd made on the website (I watched him make it, and the system said he had the interview appointment)...but they said "nope, we don't show that you have an appt". So...now with the email indicating they believe he has not interviewed, I've concluded that they have multiple problems with their website and record keeping...and it's going to cost them students. It does not bode well for smooth communications with the school. This is just the admissions dept...wait until it is the office of the registrar.

Must be a new problemm since the admissions office last year was really smooth and had great organization skills....and as for registrar, I've never had a problem with scheduling for classes or anything like that..it runs pretty smoothly.

Ever since two screw-ups i've had with my mailed application and essays, i've had to drive down to the UR and give them my stuff personally. It kinda works out for me since i live here and i know it's really not possible for others. My suggestion is that you should try to avoid using any of their "more convenient" online services (inclusing the app checklist) because there are just too many screw-ups with that system this year. A couple of days after you mail something in, call them to make sure they've recieved your stuff. Also, try to always mail things using certified mail. By the way, your online application checklist is going to be listed as "incomplete" up to the point you send them your mid-year report (at least according to the two people i spoke to)

yea i was accepted ED, and when I was completing my application, the only problem I had was the online website wasnt accepting my essay and short answers and wouldnt save them, so every time i got back to that page everything would be gone. So i just called them up, and they were really helpful, and just told me to mail everything as soon as possible. SO i just did overnight fed ex'ed everything and requested a confirmation and everything turned out fine. Even though their online system might be faulty here and there, its free!, and IMO their staff really make up for it in terms of how helpul they are. And in the end if dont trust the system, just mail the entire application and dont do it online. Its simple as that.

i had the online application problem as probably everyone else did. They told me to email my essays whcih I did and it worked out. I had that problem where my application was submitted even tho i did not click the button. I called up and they reset it so that it was unsubmitted but unfortunately it happened again and it made me a little nervous. But they fixed it again and everythink was ok after that.

really? well, an interview is not really required. i asked for an interview, so they hook me up with this princeton guy who is like more than an hour away, and then later, they get me in with this guy from philly, but the guy never called me or anything, and then when i email him, he doesn't respond, so i decide to wait a bit, and by then, i got my acceptance letter. so that was pretty scary cause i thought they would reject me without letting me do an interview
