I was in the same situation last year, and I found that the choice was often made for me - many schools don't allow you to interview before summer/fall of your senior year. Check their admissions websites and find out which schools will allow you to interview, first. And also check to see what you'd need to do to schedule an alumni interview next fall.

If you have a choice, I'd recommend not doing interviews unless you're clear about what you want in a college and you've narrowed your list enough to know a fair bit about each school. Otherwise it won't be helpful to you or the interviewer.

On the other hand, if you're fairly far along in the search process, or if for some reason it's important to you to interview on-campus instead of with an alum and you can't visit schools twice, go for it. But do make sure your first interview is at a "safety" or a school you don't really care about. That way you'll get an idea of what they're like so you'll be better prepared for the ones that really matter.

If you're going to visit schools now, schedule interviews so you can knock two birds with one stone, so to speak. Make sure you have a good idea of what you want to get out of college and why you want to go. It would probably be better to visit schools during the summer and have interviews then, because it seems kind of early to visit schools (January), but it's fine.
