interview... current events?

I was just contacted for an alumni interview...I found out that my interviewer was a political science major at Yale. Will she ask about my opinion, etc on something that has happened recently? Has any one been asked about current events in their interviews?

If you are intending to major in any of the politics-related field, then you should be familiar with current issues anyway. I think current events is definitely NOT an uncommon topic for college interviews, though.

You really should be reading The New York Times on a regular basis and should be familiar with current events just in case you are asked

Great...My interview is next week. I plan on majoring in the sciences but in any case I don't feel too good about this. I usually just read bbcnews online and watch CNN- I'm not really opinionated though...

LOL, nice CC nick -- idealist...

There are plenty of great sites to get information, if you are interested. Me, I like watching CSPAN for fun, so...

You probably wont be asked about current events, but if you can prepare a little that would be great. The worst case which is totally understandable is that you could always say if you did not know the answer - that you are usually more up to date on current events but have been very busy the past few weeks with school, your outside activities ect. Most interviewers dont expect those they interview to be current on all world affairs. They know everyone is very busy

I am interested, it just happens that the past few months I've sort of been piled up with all these standardised tests and other work that I haven't been completely "aware"... which I just find to be a disgrace. Its alright.. I'll do some catching up
