Does anyone know what the deadline for interviews is? I submitted my application in late December, and I have yet to have an interview. Two friends from my school had interviews at school by an alumnus one day. I did not have mine that day which was strange. I know that interviews are available in my area. When should I be worried about not getting one? Should I contact anyone in admissions or elsewhere?

Same for me - all my friends have been interviewed and I have not heard back, although I submitted half my application in mid-December and the other on December 30. I’ve heard the lack of an interview won’t hurt, but that means it can’t help…so I’d really like to know what to do as well.

I’d like to know when the deadline for interview is as well.

I was just contacted for an interview tonight, so there is still hope for you guys!!

If it’s the last week of February, don’t expect an interview. Full committee begins the following week, and all interviews will be in. Around 50%-80% of the interviews will be finished by the third week of February.

There are students who are accepted without an interview, although certainly many more who are accepted with one.

Some/many subcommittees do prescreen applicants. It’s difficult to determine which do and which don’t. If you PM me your location (not specific location), I can tell you if I know for certain that they prescreen.

Hope this helps everyone cheers…

Do you know if they prescreen in Orange County, California?

I talked to my interviewer and she said the interview reports are due on the 20th or the 21st (I forgot which one she specified).

GtheG:

You are sort of implying that people are not interviewed because they are being eliminated due to a prescreening process. Is this what you’re saying? And on what do you base this assumption?

Officers read applications before every (or at least nearly every) interview. Subcommittee works to align interviewees with interviewers based on interest and career paths. It is known that some subcommittees decide to prioritize interviews based on whether the officer would like one.

So what would be the reasons the officer would not like one… a definite shoo-in that an interview would not be necessary or an unlikely to be accepted candidate regardless of how well the interview might go?

Where did you get the info from, GG?

@GordonTheGekko. It really depends on the region or area. Sometimes it just comes down to available interviewers. It’s almost never possible to assign every interviewee to an interviewer with similar interests. There’s a reason why you hear about pre-meds being interviewed by consultants or lawyers and why artsy types get science professors. Sometimes it’s convenience for the regional interviewing chairperson in assigning interviews.

So that might be the ideal, practicality trumps everything.

I am still wondering how you know this supposed information and the assumption that interviews are assigned, rather than based on availability.

I just had my interview today, the guy said he was the only one doing interviews in my area so it was just based on availability.

So if you get an interview after the supposed Feb. 15 deadline does that say anything about the applicant?

Yeah, I was wondering if it means anything? I just got a call today from my interviewer and we scheduled an interview for this Monday Feb 27. Does this mean that the interview barely matters? Or is it a good thing for me? I was expecting no interview because I thought the deadline was on the 15th. However, now I’m getting interviewed almost 2 weeks after the supposed deadline.

I just got an email from a local alum today too. I thought the time for interviews was past already? I wonder what this means.

I started this thread way back at the beginning of the month and I was just contacted to set up an interview for Thursday…

If your app passes through subcommittee unscathed, an interview report submitted by March 5th will probably still get considered and added to your file. Since full committee is also conducted region by region, there’s even a possibility that interview reports submitted sometime in early-mid March might still get through, but that largely depends on whether your app survived subcommittee and where you live.

According to my interviewer, the deadline for her to get all her reports in is 2/29. For different people, the deadline is different but for the most part, the deadline has not passed and interviews are still able to be held.
