Interview Deadline

Hi! I'm applying RD to Duke, and I missed the Dec 1 deadline for submitting Part 1 in order to get an interview. Is it a disadvantage to not be interviewed? Also, if I turn it in by the regular deadline, would I still have a chance to be interviewed, since the alumni don't contact students until mid-January anyway?

Thanks.

Hey, I'm wondering the same thing. I haven't yet submitted either part of the application, but I will get it in by the deadline. Is it bad to not have an interview?

Not having an interview is not going to hurt you. You might still get called for an interview if you didn't submit your application before the "deadline" for interviews. I have had friends who received calls for interviews at Duke even though they did not make this deadline. Interviews aren't that big of a deal at Duke (my interviewer came right out and said that it really doesn't do much at all except to add a little more personal information to the profile). I wouldn't worry about the interview part of the Duke application at all. Don't read into it and think that a call or a no-call has anything to do with the quality of your appication or chances.

what if i met the deadline but still haven't been contacted? should i call?

i hear that some people are just not contacted... i guess just too many people. i submitted my app by Nov 28, but they said we should be notified by mid-January. i would like an interview also, but i guess i'm a bit apprehensive about it. good luck everyone.

The only way it would really affect you probably is if you came off rude, mean-spirited, etc. Otherwise, just a good way to learn more about the school, I guess. Submitted it a week late, as well.
