Interview Dilemma

Hey CC, I need your advice on a slight predicament I'm having with my interview scheduling. I sent an email to my assigned EC on Saturday, December 6, 2014, and I have yet to hear from him. I know it was foolish of me to procrastinate until 4 days before the interview scheduling deadline (December 10).

Since tomorrow's the deadline, I feel like I'm left with 2 options: I don't want to rush my EC b/c it has only been 4 days and it is my fault for giving him such short notice before the deadline, so I'm leaning towards emailing the head office people at interview@mit.edu and explaining to them my situation. The other conceivable option is to send another email to my EC and hope that he sees it in time.

Also, would I be penalized/barred from applying to MIT if I don't schedule my interview by the deadline? In other words, would it decrease my chances if I am still permitted to apply. Thanks in advance!

December 10 isn’t actually the deadline to schedule your interview, it’s the deadline to contact your EC to schedule your interview. Since you’ve already contacted your EC in advance of the deadline, you’re fine.

I think it would be fine to send a follow-up email today, since it is the contact deadline, but it will almost certainly be fine if you wait to follow up until it’s been a week since your initial email.

That’s relieving to know. Thanks!
