I applied just a few days ago, so when should I expect to be contacted? And if so, will it be by home phone, cell, or email? Problem is, sometimes my grandparents (don't speak English) pick up the phone, I don't want them to scare away the interview.

you had to turn in your supplement or the commonapp before December 10 to be eligible for an interview

And for the record, no, the interview is NEVER required, and if you do have one, the Admissions officers give it virtually no weight in their decision...it's just another way for them to get to know you as a person.

If you are going to be interviewed, most likely you'll be contacted by email at the address that you provided when you applied.

madboy-
that's not necessarily true. I applied about a week ago today and I have already been contacted for an interview. Also, does this, by any chance, show an interest in the student? or does it just mean that someone in the area happened to be convenient?

whoops, i meant to address that to gtwnlvr

Interview requests aren't meant to show interest in an applicant in the way that you are probably thinking juliac3 (which is probably the way that med school do it). Duke tries to give every applicant an interview unless circumstances such as location, availability, etc make that impossible. It's a way for admissions officers to get a more complete picture of who you are and to give you a chance to ask questions and find out more about Duke from an alum.

I think Duke Admissions is supposed to give preference to people who hand in supplements before the 'deadline'. I handed mine in much later than the deadline for my year and still got an interview.

I submitted my app and supplement 12/07/08 and have not been contacted for an interview. Although, I know four kids from my school that have already interviewed. I hope they contact me soon : /.

i submitted in october
contacted in february
He bailed last minute and never got back to me about a reschedule (nor did i want to, 70 years old and from divinity school,,, eh)

current freshman

Don't sweat the interview to much. I got in without one. It's done by region, so they can't give one to every applicant. Therefore, it has almost no weight in the decision. An admission officer told me once that it is as much to make the alumni feel good as evaluate the applicant.

I applied EarlY Decision and sumbitted my app before the dealdine for interviews. However, I never received an interview and tried emailing the admissions office and alumni committe to line one up, but they said they didnt have room for me. Nonetheless, I was still accepted so I dont think interviews are that important.

I turned my app on January 2nd and have already been contacted for an interview. I actually did not think I would be contacted for one, due to my application being sent in on the deadline day.

I turned in my entire Duke U application on 1/1. I was contacted by email for an interview on 1/7. I had my interview on 1/9.

Needless to say, I felt really rushed but at least it's done with!

my d turned in her application mid-december, and she is still waiting for an interview... she applied to 14 schools and she already went to 8 interviews.. she is still missing DUKE, BROWN,AND EMORY for the most important ones! and i know that after february15, they are not given interviews anymore.. so we have 1 month left to have a chance to be contacted.

interviews at Duke arent that important..if she isnt contacted it will be ok...like i said above, I was never contacted for one and still got in!
