Interview Do's and Don'ts

I got waitlisted to my top choice and I was able to schedule an interview for this wednesday. The name of the interviewer was given, but there is really no information about her at all. I've searched some do's and don'ts and i kind of get the gist, but i would like to know if i should mention that i only got into 1 of my schools that is all the way in the south and i really can't go there due to family matters. I got waitlisted to a total of 4 schools. I would totally go to this school is i got off waitlisted. What things can i say that can really make me stand out? Its my first interview too.

Can your GC call and find out anything about why you were waitlisted? You would want to address those matters, and re-affirm that the college is your absolute tippy-top choice and you will enroll without hesitation if admitted. Playing the sympathy card (“I have no other good choices”) probably won’t get you any points, but sharing your enthusiasm for the college is worthwhile. Beyond that, I trust you’ll get some more specific suggestions from folks with more experience. Best of luck to you!
