Our son will be flying to Oberlin (from San Diego) next week to participate in the MVP weekend. Can/should he arrange to have an admissions interview while he's there? Oberlin is very high on his college list, so he would like to do everything possible to get in, but we don't know if interviews are commonly offered during this program. Before we get in touch with the admissions office, does anyone have any advice? BTW, he will be applying to the college rather than the conservatory, although he might consider the double degree program later on. He plays multiple instruments, and is very excited about the TIMARA program. Thanks.

If the intinerary for the program doesn't mention interviews, you could contact the admissions office. If your son is interested in the TIMARA program, he should visit the Conservatory while he's there and take a tour. One of the Winter Term offerings over the past couple of years has been an introduction to electronic musics course, with the TIMARA program, open to all students, which could be a chance to explore his interest hands-on, in the first year.

I'm pretty sure they automatically sign up the MVP students up with interviewers. But, I'd call and check (1800 622 OBIE). As for the Conservatory, I'd email the TIMARA department and see if any of the profs can meet with your son. MVP is really fun- I hope your son has a good time!
