Interview Fiasco!!

Aaaah. Today was my harvard alum interview and for some reason, I ended up at the WRONG starbucks. Realizing this about 15 minutes after the interview was supposed to start, I rushed over to the correct starbucks, reaching there 45 minutes late. My interviewer, of course, had left after waiting for 30 minutes, and I talked to her and we rescheduled for tomorrow. I have no idea how i could make such a stupid mistake for something that is so important to me =(
What do you guys think i should do about it? Should I send her an email of apology or apologize in person tomorrow? I've already told her I was sorry and this was completely my fault on the phone, but I feel that is not enough for all the time of her's that I've wasted.
Any advice would be much appreciated, I feel terrible.

Shhh. It happens.

Bring her flowers tomorrow as a small token of your appreciation/apology. Nothing elaborate, maybe a dozen tulips or daffodils.

Fauve’s suggestion of a SMALL token of apology is a good one. Do that, apologize again, and dive into your interview. Mistakes happen. Alum interviewers know students are nervous and mistakes can happen. It’s not that big a deal…

My son went to the wrong office building during last year’s cycle for a 7 am interview. He waited for 40 minutes before he realized he was in the wrong place. He found the right place, apologized, had the interview (it was relatively short–30-40 minutes). Harvard was his first choice. He was accepted, but I’ll bet from now on he’ll confirm locations for important meetings!

My D did the EXACT same thing. It was the wrong Starbucks. Turned out to be her ONLY bad interview, the interviewer thought she was an IDIOT. He was actually very mean anyway, and condescending, etc. (this was NOT Harvard). Anyway…it was a long story but I truly understand how she mistook his instructions. If one doesn’t give a STREET address…they’re just asking for trouble because there is a Starbucks on every corner now.

Less for future interviewees…GET THE STREET ADDRESS. Bad news is, the interviewer isn’t likely to have it to give. So…just be SURE you’re SURE.

Not only are they on every corner, but they’re on the exact same street just a few blocks apart. SO many ways to confuse it. Interview casually says “meet at the Starbucks north of the mall” (but he means on the north end, INSIDE…not the one that is outside and just north of the mall).

Or…there are stores on the east versus west side of every town…but on the exact same street (You know, the one in the Walmart parking lot on 116th?). Of course there happens to be a Starbucks that fits that exact description on both the north and the south end of that street.

Our town has a circular bypass and, if you reference “just outside I-285”…you could mean north, south, east, or west.

Better to be in a “one Starbucks” town (the new millenium equivalent of a one stop sign town).

We have 5 Starbucks’ on my local 1-mile street.
