Do you think it is appropriate to send a follow-up email after an alumni interview? Basically, something along the lines of “Thank you for taking time out of your day to meet. I enjoyed our conversation about ___.” Personally, I am leaning towards the opinion that it is not necessary. I think it might be a bit too much. What are your thoughts?

Wow I already completed two interviews before thinking of this. Although the interviews went well, I am thinking the lack of a follow up email could have hurt me.
Also, do you think it would be helpful to send a copy of my resume or personal website in the follow up for reference?
Don’t send any materials, just a “thank you”.
After my daughter got her acceptance she also sent written thank you notes to a few people that helped her in the admissions process as well as those who did her letters of rec regardless if they were used or not.
