I am interviewing this weekend for the Trustee Scholarship, and I'm REALLY REALLY nervous about the interview. I can talk a lot about my extracurriculars, why I want to go to USC, etc. but I don't know a whole lot about business. Has anyone on here already done a buiness interveiw with USC? What kind of questions did they ask?

I did an interview in the admissions process with the associate director of marshal admissions. She asked a few questions regarding my interest in business and what you hope to do with that degree? Also we discussed current events of business that she read in the paper that morning. Fortunately I was able to exert a lot of my own opinions and goals. She really appreciated that and she told me at the end of the interview, that she could see in the future in the newspaper. I guess I came off as a very goal oriented business individual? I wanted to do more than the traditional 9-5 work day, I wanted to make a difference?

I would really suggest discussing something along those lines that will make you stand out? She ended giving me her direct line and e-mail address and told me to inform her of my school choice even if it wasn't USC. She was interested to see where I was going to go with my business career. I'm sure as long as you actually have a passion for business, you should be able to portray that. =]

That was really helpful thank you! But, I don't know too much about business, except that I think I would make a decent leader, want to help out (I'm interested in somehow combining my interest in business and psychology without doing human resource, perhaps managing a nonprofit organization that deals with human service? Does that work?) I should probably start paying attention to the news...(I never read current articles)

It's a little tough to catch up on the news in a day but I do have a small suggestion. Go to news.myway.com and just check out the top stories in the world, national, political and business sections to begin with. (That's how I keep up when I'm traveling and away from my beloved New York Times.) You might even look at the Wall Street Journal and a couple of business magazines on the plane for good measure.

I'd also suggest that you just be ready to talk about how your interest in business developed, your plans and goals, and how USC fits into them. Where do you see yourself in the future? Keep in mind that nobody is going to make you stick to your plan exactly - just try to sound confident and enthusiastic. Easy for me to say, I know. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for the info/advice!

Check out DrudgeReport.com. Very easy uncluttered list of top news stories. Covers a little of EVERYTHING.

I have a generalized idea about what I want to do with my proposed major, so hopefully that will be good. Thank you all very much for the input, I was just stressing out because USC is number one choice and I want to seem as knowledgeable as I can.
