Looking for information about ED-interviews at Dartmouth. My daughter was told that the college would contact her for an interview, but she recently heard that a few students went for their interviews already. Anyone have any experience with this? Should my daughter call Admissions and ask for a specific date? Thanks for any help.

i don't have any experience to draw from, but my son has his scheduled. i think the alum sent him an e-mail and they made their plans that way.

You will probably have an alumni interview. A lot depends on whether or not you are from a place where there is access to a number of alums. Even then give it a little time, as the interview will get in touch with you.

Same here, they have not contacted for a interview yet. I am little disappointed. One question, Does it mean that they already looked at my application and viewed me as a unqualified applicant so they dont even bother to offer me a interview?

no,

even though my D applied RD she did not get an interview until late february. However in march she got a likely letter.
Contact the admissions office to find out if there are alumni available in your area to interview. If you don't get one they will not hold it against you.
Keep your head up there is still time to get an interview.

astudent and all other ed worried candidates
please understand,,,THE INTERVIEW MEANS ALMOST NOTHING!!
it will not get you in or keep you out unless you are a total misfit..
perhaps if 1049 spots are given out and you and one other candidate are dead even for the 1050th spot then it may come into play...

some local alumni who got a list of candidates is to call the ed people first..if it comes next monday and not called i would call the admission office...if you do not get an interview it will no way prevent them reviewing your folder..your 13 years of school and your sats and your essay will get you in or not ...relax ..youve done your job and just wait til dec 9th of so when they release by email yes or no
good luck and feel free to ask any question ..not that the answers i give matter now but at least i can distract you from the nervous tension of the next 3-4 weeks

My daughter's alumni interview for ED was very late - either right before or right after T'giving - I agree with Sybbie's advice.

The more we realize how PERFECT Dartmouth is, the more we worry! My daughter did send in her application for ED very early, so we are surprised that she didn't get a call for an interview. Your advice helps me greatly!! We will try to hold on until Dec, but it's not easy. D just heard about a student who was already accepted as an Athlectic recruit; he was told that he's all set. We were somewhat disheartened about his early acceptance, because he hadn't yet filled out the application! Thanks again, it's nice to know that the interview, or lack thereof, doesn't mean that the application was discarded.

i find it really hard to believe that admissions would say he's all set without seeing an app! maybe those were the coach's words? and the final say does have to come from admissions. i do know that my son did receive his likely letter from admissions--and i don't care what the coaches told us, i wasn't going to be calm until i heard from admissions!

he isstill doing the alumni interview--i think that the interviewer told my son that the deadline had been pushed back a little--so hang in there! (my son's ed application probably went in the first week in august, and he did not set up his interview until last week)

wbow,

I know that it can be a little nerve racking waiting for the official acceptance letter, but it will come (Did your likely letter come from Karl Furstenberg?).

Does your son know any current Dartmouth students? If he does, I hope that he asks if they can put him up so he can come to Dimensions with the RD candidates in april, as I think it is a really nice first bonding experience for the class.

All the best.

Hey does it matter if you have not been contacted by someone for an interview if you early decisioned? My D ED and she has not heard from anyone on a interview should she contact them and ask for one or will they just not worry about it if you do not have a interviewer near you. we live in small town in texas

Is it only athletes who receive a likely letter for ED?

pretty much as coaches want to make sure the players that they have chosen are committed to attending. Other likely letters go out during the RD round

it's important for athletes to know early because they may choose to go to other schools (that can actually sign letters of intent and offer them some athletic scholarships) if they don't know where they stand
