I just completed interviews for Harvard and Duke. The Harvard interviewer was probing and demanding, but the Duke interviewer exuded the southern spirit he professed. I was much more comfortable with Duke now, and I am excited to discover my decision.

Did anyone else have a better interview at Duke than a peer school, or did anyone have the opposite?

The duke interview was a lot more laid back than the northwestern one I did

My interview an hour ago was cool… a more relaxed late 20s/early 30s woman alumnae who happened to live in the same town as me! Much better than my Penn interviewer, who literally read off the interview questions and jotted down my answers with pen and paper. Nervewracking! But he explicitly said it was his first time interviewing, so they probably aren’t comparable.

I have to say, though, my interviewer made me think twice about Harvard.

My Harvard interview was probably the chillest interview ive had. It was basically an hour long conversation and he talked about himself and Harvard for most of it. He didnt even write anything about me until the end where he wrote a few notes when we recapped what we had talked about. The guy was also pretty cool. He was 27 and worked at a hedge fund on wall st. He was also a recruited lacrosse player. It was my first interview and I was so nervous, but by 5 min in I felt completely calm and confident

my first interview too, but the guy was a dinosaur (in the okay way)

my MIT interview was pretty demanding, too.

my Rice interview was much more laid back. I enjoyed it a lot :P
