@bopper it was a question my son asked at a Cornell interview. He asked other questions as he went in with a few if they were not covered. He got a great response also. Just a suggestion to ask something different.
Thank you all for the ideas. If I have an alum or student (it is a possibility at the college I am interviewing at to have a senior interviewer) I plan on asking about what their favorite memory is, the best dorm building to choose, and specifically an alum- how the college has changed since they attended as a student.
If I get an admissions staff I think I will ask about what they describe the typical student here as, what the most unique thing about this school is, and talk about how to get involved with clubs.
Of course I will appreciate any new tips or insight you guys have. My interview is tomorrow so I will periodically check this thread beforehand. Thanks for the answers! They were all really helpful
Don’t under-dress and don’t over-dress; just dress respectfully. I’ve seen a guy show up in flip flops and a torn t-shirt to go with his attitude.
Don’t be late.
This ISN’T a job interview like so many students think or behave as if. Look forward to a nice pleasant conversation where you’re being you and not something else that you’re not.
Lastly, interviews don’t have a huge weight in terms of tilting your chances one way or the other, so don’t sweat it.
Have fun!
