i have an interview with a duke alum coming up and i'd really appreciate any advice you people that've already had one could give me. what kind of questions did he/she ask? did you dress casually or wear a suit/skirt? just basically any information you feel is important. thanks!!

yea same i have my interview next week. i would also love any advice. good luck charmedone, i hear they are very laid back.

I had mine in November. It was really nice; I went over to the guy's house and we basically talked about a bunch of stuff. After I answered each question, he would usually go off on a tangent about something similar at Duke (although he graduated in the seventies... he had a B average and got in to Duke!). Not sure how common this is, but I found it to be fun... just be yourself and relax and you will be fine. Good luck!

ah i'm nervous..i hope he doesn't ask me anything too brain rattling. yikes!

thanks! good luck to you too.

i'm nervous but hopefully i won't make a total fool out of myself!!

my interview was extremely laid back. my interviewer told me not to worry about dressing up. we talked for about an hour at starbucks, about everything from my least favorite class to what i would do with a million bucks. she even took the time to get out her list of student organizations and duke and told me about the ones i was most interested in! just relax, be yourself, and think on your feet. :D good luck!

i definitely agree dreamsicle. i had my interview today and my interviewer was really cool. we also met for coffee and just chatted about interests, his opinion on duke, and my goals, etc. nothing too hairy. don't be nervous ppl it won't help. good luck all!

i had my interview several months ago as i applied ed. it is extremely laid back and i think that theyre questions are not meant to trick you be yourself and if anything it should only help gl

just wanted to say that i had my interview today and i enjoyed it! my interviewer was really nice and at the end she even asked me what i wanted her to put in her report to duke!

Anyone still not been contacted been contacted for an interview???

i just talked to a girl at my school today who hasn't. so don't worry about it, you're not the only one. and plus, if there's no alumni in your area then you might not even have an interview. they would'nt hold it against you.

The interview reports for Duke, as cited in Admissions Confidential, did not seem to be very long, and their chief complaint was lack of a specific interest in Duke. And to them, great academics, great athletics does not qualify as a specific interest.

Joey

I know there's a committee in my area because another applicant who lives a few houses down from me got one. Anyway, I called the Alumni Office and left a message. Hopefully I'll get one now.

still haven't received a call/letter for the interview. According to the website, we should hear by the end of Jan., so I'll call next week if I still haven't heard.

The message on the number I called says if you haven't heard by January 20th then you can call. So I'd call now to make sure they have time to contact your local alumni office.

I had my interview today and it went pretty well. my interviewer was nice and he didn't ask me any out of the ordinary questions. in fact, we touched on a broad range of things. i wore khaki pants and a polo shirt.

Finally got contacted! Yay!!!

When interviewer called D two days ago to schedule her interview he said he was behind and that he had to have his reports in by Feb. 10. Her interview is scheduled for this Friday.

During the interview, are we asked what other schools we are applying to?

I was asked what schools I was applying to.
