Interview Information

For those of you lucky enough to have a chance at interviewing, here is what happened in mine. Obviously, each person might do it a little differently, but I'd guess that the variation between interviewers is slim.

I was told immediately that it was not so much evaluative as it was a chance for me to tell "stanford" anything about myself that was not included or did not come across within my written application, as well as to give me the opportunity to ask a Stanford alum any questions I may have had about the student experience at the school.

I was asked pretty standard college-interview questions, i.e. what is your favorite class this year and why, have you thought about whether you want to study abroad or not, and the most original of the bunch: why stanford?

Contrariwise to my other interviews, it felt much more casual, like she really just wanted to get a better sense for who I was, and relay that to the school. I felt ironically less pressured, despite the fact that it was Stanford. I asked a number of questions, about her time at Stanford, trying to make it clear that Stanford was/is my top choice without actually saying the words, and trying to show clearly what I had/have to offer that stands out among the applicant body.

It lasted approximately 45 minutes.

If anyone has any questions, post them/PM me.

I hope this has helped someone feel less stressed like I was last night, haha.

Yeah, i had a similar interview experience for Stanford. It was really casual, and i was asked the same exact questions that you mentioned. ( I think Why Stanford? came up at least 5 times asked in different ways) But yeah, it lasted about an hour and wasn't that bad.

you both were lucky to be part of the pilot program of interviews right? I assume if you don't live in one of the selected cities, there is NO interview for Stanford?

Thanks.

^ you are correct.

craziness. Where are the pilot cities?
