do interview invitations usually vary by schools? i applied to 3 counseling psych phd programs and have yet to here from any school and i am feeling very anxious.
also my understanding is some people are rejected at the interview stage and do not get invited to interview, but do people get rejected after the interview stage as well?
Yes, interview invitations vary by school. It’s still pretty early - some schools don’t do interviews until late January or early-to-mid February, so you’re fine.
And yes, some students get rejected before the interview and some students are rejected afterwards. Generally, if you get invited to interview you have a pretty good chance of admission, but it’s not guaranteed.
Getting an interview is making the first cut. My D interviewed at 3 grad schools and got 2 offers of admission – ironically she thought her best interview was at the school that waitlisted her so you just never know.
many schools stick to a regular schedule. You can go onto grad cafe and see what/when your prospective Unis usually release invites, or have at least released them in prior years. (could be in several batches.)
