Has anyone ever received a letter from Hamilton after completing an interview?

Yes, my D interviewed there about a month ago & received a nice letter about a week later. Very nice gesture, I thought.

It was a wonderful gesture, my S2 looks at it all the time. He just spent a few days there at basketball camp and absolutely loved the campus. He is also looking at Skidmore (which he also loves), Hobart, Ithaca College, Wells, Colgate, M.I.T., Amherst, and Geneseo. I think this is a great list. I would be happy with any of them.

I'm with you, jollymon. We visited Middlebury, Hamilton, and Amherst on our NE trip, and D loved Hamilton and Amherst - less so Middlebury. I'd be thrilled with either. I loved the vibe at Hamilton - despite its somewhat ominous item on the Princeton Review ranking list!

Yes, my S just received a personalized, complimentary letter after his interview last week. Very nice. Do you think they do that for everyone who interviews?

Good schools, jollymon and ChiSquare. We've also checked out Colby, Bates, Wheaton (MA), and Connecticut College, all of which he's interested in.

What's this "ominous item on the Princeton Review ranking list"?

The one metric that is singled out for Hamilton is "lots of beer on campus". Personally, it doesn't bother me. Wish the campus pub had been open on the hot day we visited! :^)

One of my friends said she received both a letter from her interviewer and a letter from an admissions officer...did anyone else receive this?

Now I feel bad. My D just got one; from her interviewer.

Don't feel bad. Different regional officers will handle their "load" different ways.

I also wouldn't worry about the Princeton Review. These are self-reports. All these "cold" campuses -- I mean the weather -- have lots of beer.

My S is at a known drinking school, Williams, and came back from freshman year without having had one sip. He fit in fine and did find the culture a problem at all.

DD's best friend attends Hamilton. She is really happy there. Her only caveat is the isolation. And she hates Utica. She loves the school. She applied ED and felt that she made a great decision.

About the letters- I never received one even though I interviewed on campus and everything, and I was accepted ED. So don't feel bad about not getting one, its not an indicator of very much.

when i interviewed i got both a letter from my interviewer and one from the admissions officer (i got in ED I). it was very reassuring, but as blondie08 said, you can get in with one or none of these letters.

mythmom, not that it matters, but the "lots of beer on campus" did not bother me at all. In fact, I was sorry their on-campus pub was closed the hot day we visited.

Actually, I'd rather see a school like Hamilton have an on-campus pub than have my D go to a "dry campus" where kids drink in town or frat houses.
