Interview location?

I have a problem with my interview location. My interviewer sort of lives in my area, but it's still quite a good distance from my house. He suggested meeting at a Starbucks that would take about 30 minutes on the highway to reach from my house. The distance isn't a problem, but the problem is that my dad has to work at his store all day, my mom can't drive on the highway, and neither can I. What should I do? Should I ask him if a closer place is possible? Would that be too inconsiderate? Or should I just tell him the truth?

Do both - ask him if it would be possible to have the interview somewhere closer to your house and explain that it’s because you have no way to get to the original location.

i think the bigger question is the inability to drive on the highway? ;)

I am a Duke alumni interviewer and think that asking for a relocation to another coffee shop closer to you is perfectly reasonable. Just explain it as the way you did in this thread and I’m sure your interviewer won’t mind.

Does Duke offer Alumni interviews to all candidates? I’m in the Philly area and haven’t be offered an Alumni interview yet. Hope that doesn’t mean my application has been “passed over.” Anyone know when regional interviews are being conducted?
