I have an interview this Sunday at a local Starbucks. Has anyone interviewed yet? How did it go? I don't think I could pick out my interviewer in a room, all she told me was that she was going to be wearing jeans!

Should I order before the interview or not order anything at all? It would seem rude to be drinking while being interviewed as well as not getting anything at the store and just sitting there...

My guess is that your interviewer will recognize you even if you don't recognize her. Give her a little wave, say "Just a minute" or "Can I get you something?" Then place your order. It's not rude to be drinking during an interview, especially when the interview is at a cafe.

Lucky. No interviewers within 75 miles of my house... =/ I'm pretty bummed. And I'm not too big on supplemental materials (I'm not an artist or a writer!). I hope this won't look too bad. Will it at least show that I TRIED to arrange an interview? I'm applying online.

Hah, I have a very similar situation. I have an interview on sunday at a local coffee place. All I have in terms of identification is that my guy is 6'7, but I guess that's plenty.

i had my interview last week, it was at the guy's law office
he said to expect 45 min., but we talked about everything for 2 hours!
it made me love chicago even more. i don't think it could have gone better.

Anybody else not hear about an interview yet? I requested on Sept. 13, and I'm not really in an isolated area or anything.

just to be clear, if you've had an on campus interview, you shouldn't schedule an alumni one, right?

I don't see any reason to, unless you just really want to talk with an alum.

i had my chicago interview last night. mine was 2 hours also! i couldn't believe it.

i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I guess Chicago alum like coffee shops..I had my interview last night. The guy went to Chicago for graduate school.. but not undergraduate. So we talked about other college more than Chicago. Lasted about an hour and a half. I thought it went pretty well, save that we talked more about Marxism and Aristotle than we did Chicago. I don't know what to think!

Sorry to kind of hijack this thread, but all we have to do to request an alumni interview is to check that box on the online app and save, right? The application doesn't actually have to be submitted?

Right. You should get a confirmation e-mail.

"I thought it went pretty well, save that we talked more about Marxism and Aristotle than we did Chicago."

Sounds like a Chicago interview, Notsomuch, don't fret.

my interview was at a starbucks. i got there before him and i ordered, than waited for him to show up. then he got something and we just talked. dont think too much into it. then again, he told me it would be really informal.
