Does the interviewer read your admissions file (application, essays, et al) prior to the interview, or do they go into it only essentially knowing your name?

I’m pretty sure they go into it just knowing my name. Going into my interview, I remember always having a resume on-hand, and they always thought that was great. had they seen my app, they wouldn’t’ve needed/liked it so much

I’m an interviewer. We know your name, your high school, contact info, and a very terse description of your interests (i.e., lacrosse, literary pubs). Nothing else.

So it is a good idea to tag along with a resume?

they dont read your essay, but they know about you.

interviews mean very little. dont worry much about it

It’s up to you whether you want to bring a resume. If you want to refer to it just so you don’t leave anything out. Remember that Brown sees your resume – what they want from the interviewer is stuff they don’t necessarily see in your application.

And no, Napoleon, interviewers do not “know about you” unless they decide to google your name. And interviews do not “mean very little” – Brown spends an awful amount of time, energy and money on interviews.

Great, thanks for the info. I’ll probably bring my resume just for peace of mind - whether or not it’ll leave my bag remains to be seen. I’m actually not really nervous for my interview - rather, I’m excited to talk about Brown with someone who won’t roll their eyes and sigh! (Hopefully, anyway ;))

I think Napoleon meant that they don’t matter much as far as admission goes, not that they don’t matter in general.

I’m supposedly supposed to get my first interviewee this year, and think it’s rather funny that someone would be nervous to talk to me.

what do they ask you generally at an interview? Also, am I suppose to be contacted by the interviewer first? or am I suppose to contact the interviewer?

smilee: I just put up a new thread with lots of answers to commonly asked questions – including yours. Check it out.

thanks I’ll go check it out
