interview question

for the hotel school interview, I will be doing an off-campus interview because Cornell is so far! Will this affect my chances??

probably. i know it might be far, but won't u be making that trip all the time if u get into cornell?

do you have any factual basis for that statement, confidential?

This question is for general alumni interview, when does Cornell setup that interview? is it when all components of the application are in? or is it when some part of the application is in?

ok its an evaluative interview for a college that states that they will heavily depend on the interview, essays, and other non-stat based data(not to say that u can get in with bad grades/scores etc but its importance is definately less than the other schools). if ur interview is still with an associate admissions director then u cud probably explain ur reasons and what not. no sparticus, there is no factual evidence that any one could say, but think about it logically. a college says they strongly encourage you to visit their school and they keep track through the info sessions of who came. if cornell is ur top choice(which im assuming it is because of hotel school) then showing ur strong interest will benefit(to what extent i dont know).

i could pull out the pyschology book. people are more positive in general when they are in comfortable situations. when the admissions ppl are interviewing u in their territory they will be more in a comfort zone than being in some random city. these are little things, but they are things and therefore yes it does effect. but its not a systematic effect and u cud slam ur interview and no one would care about little things.

But wouldn't it be an alumni doing the interviewing and not an admissions committee member? In that case they WILL be in "their territory" (much more than the school currently is)...that's the way it was when I interviewed for W&L...
