Interview question

Hey all
I just had my interview today for the business school at my school (UNC-Chapel Hill). The interview seemed to go pretty well. But i was wondering if it would be appropriate to send a thank you note.
The only reason I am double minded of not sending a thank you note is because the interview seemed informal. He even told me that the people they chose for interviews were just random and that it was for experimentation for them to see if they should start interviewing all applicants for the b-school.
I feel like if i sent a thank-you note it would seem kind like iam "sucking up"..i mean it wasn't for a job or anything...its to get into b-school.so any advice on what i should do?

Help would greatly appreciated.

I'd go ahead and do it. The thank-you note doesn't have to be formal or anything, just a brief email or written note.

I believe the word you're looking for is 'ambivalent'

ok i'll send it in

lol sorry for the wrong use of grammar..i typed this really fast

A thank-you note is always appropriate after an interview. Interviewrs view such things as courtesy (unfortunately, courtesy that most people don't practice), not as "sucking up."

i have my thank you note that i sent to my interviewer. I'll PM it to you if you want. PM me or post here.

I was wondering how do you go about sending this thank you note? I don't want to do it through e-mail, as I think something written up is more meaningful. Do I write it up and...mail it? Drop it off at her office?

Please...uh, excuse my ignorance.

I really want to send my interviewer a thank you note! he's so nice an all...i DON'T want to email him. email is impersonal and dumb.

...ask yourself this question: could sending a thankyou note hurt in any way?

If you have their home or work address, you mail it like you would a regular letter. If you don't have their home or work address, but have their e-mail, e-mail it to them.

Thanks Northstarmom!

northmom, should i email him and ask him for his address? i really wnat to handwrita thank you note

hideand seek,

If you know where he works, you can send the thank-you to his company address. If not, check to see if he's listed in the phonebook or switchboard.com. Another option is to send him the note c/o the Harvard Alumni office.

It's entirely appropriate to ask the interviewer for a business card at the end of the interview. You can then send a thank you note to his or her office address, if you so desire. It's just a nice thing to do.
