Interview Question

So I have an interview scheduled for later this week, but I realized that the alumni doing my interview is not from the school that I am applying. I am applying to DC, but he is from MCS. Should I cancel, and schedule with someone else, or will it be fine? Thanks

You’ll be fine. If they wanted to set up an interview with alumni from your specific department, they’d explicitly say “ok here’s a list of alum in each department, please pick the one you’re applying for.” I’m in MCS right now and my interviewer was an architecture major. And yet we were able to talk about so many different parts of life, like alcoholism, music, etc. Just because someone is from a different department doesn’t mean that they can only talk about that type of stuff.

Tl;dr: Interviewers, above all else, are also regular people just like you and me. They have views, opinions, and experiences. And their job is to see yours.

@Homsar could you explain what goes on in the interviews? What questions they ask, how you should act, etc?
