I am an ED applicant to Pomona from India. I had my interview with an alumnus a few days ago. The interview was fairly good and I think I was really able to communicate my strengths and personality. However, in the middle of the interview, my phone rang. I declined it. However, I think that the ringing of the phone would cause a problem on my impression.
Would the ringing phone have a great effect on the interview?
Phones ring. It’s what they do. I know a couple of Pomona interviewers and from their general descriptions of what they’re looking for, you are fine. Now, if you had answered it…
Also, the interviewer was constantly smiling. But he asked me only the conventional questions but nothing about why Pomona meant so much to me. I don’t know what to make of that.

Pomona does not seemed to be overly concerned about yield (other than not to over-enroll) so it does not track demonstrated interest - so no worries there either! (Although it’s never a bad idea to be able to articulate why you want to go to a particular college!)
Interviews are such a crap shoot. You really can’t figure out what the interviewer is thinking. Put more stock in your written app. In the interview, it sounds like you handled it well, and at least didn’t say anything bad that would rule you out.
@HitarthS You are worrying over a trivial issue. The interviewer is focused on understanding what interests you, how you make sense of the world around you, how you reflect upon and learn from your experiences, how your reach out to others and share a bit of yourself with them and how you envision your life beyond college.
