Are ivy interviewers supposed to ask for class rank, test scores, resume, GPA, and course load? Because mine did. I thought it was more about character.

Are they supposed to? Not really. Is there always that one person who thinks their opinion overrides guidelines? Yep. Is it likely to have the slightest impact on your odds of admission? No.

They ask for such data because the Harvard interview “report” asks the interviewer to “score” based on the data.

Actually, there is** nothing** in the guidelines that tells the interviewer not to ask. Quite the opposite.

It is never necessary to request academic credentials from students if an interviewer prefers not to do so. However, there can be compelling reasons to ask every applicant about his or her grades and scores… The information must be shared voluntarily by the applicant during the interview. If he or she declines, then please use your best estimate to rank the applicant in the academic category.

Harvard interviewer here—many interviewers ask for such data points or even a resume ahead of the interview. I personally don’t, because I ideally want to supply information/evidence not readily available to admissions officers.
