What about Dallas? I would think there would be a large alumni in Dallas since it's so big and has so many business people.

Yeah, I had an interview last Saturday. The first and only question he asked me was "Why did you apply ED?" And everything just took off from there. We talked for two hours about things like music, medicine, and Russian culture. It was one of the best conversations I've ever had.

Last Saturday? Lucky.

Zachsta I dont think that's true at all, because I had my interview a while ago, and I hadn't even submitted Part II at that point, and you can't really get much info from the Part I.
I wish that were true though, cause I did have an interview. lol

Haha
Just tellin you guys what my interviewer told me...

haha thats odd.
but if that were true, i'd be a pretty happy camper. haha
what you're saying probably isn't true, but im not gonna lie, it did make me feel a bit happier. hahaa im so pathetic. dangling on the smallest bits of hope

I'm not entirely sure how you're more qualified to make that statement than a man who's been doing interviews for Columbia for, oh, ten years.

Haha
Just tellin you guys what my interviewer told me...

Either he has no clue what he's talking about, or you misinterpreted what he said. Either way, what you have typed is complete hogwash. And I've been doing interviews for Columbia for, oh, six years.

Folks -- what Zachsta has posted is completely untrue.

Jesus ****ing christ C02, how many times do I have to tell you thats what my interviewer said. seriously, how does a college like columbia admit such a nasty individual like you

You're spreading misinformation and harming other people.

You've obviously put what you think he said into your own words.

Oh sweet jesus knock it off

Cool.

Just so you know (not that you're worth me explaining something to), I told him I was under the impression that they were random and he told me otherwise. But Columbia, PLEASE, oh PLEASE forgive me for so deceptively spreading these lies! I bow to you

lol no joke it's a forum

back to topic!

neways I had an interview my year, it was a pretty fun ,1 hr+ chat (she didnt plan it to be that long...) where the only real interview question she asked was "why columbia? " (just to get the conversation started)..
she had a paper and a pen.. but I don't think she ended up writing anything.

lol, so which do you think you are zach? a sure thing or an iffy applicant?

this is karl by the way.

and he told me otherwise.

Why don't you paraphrase his EXACT WORDS as best as you can.

What can you guys assume if you know that there is an interviewer in-town (reliable sources) and he only has 5 Columbia students to interview but he doesn't call you or give you any signs that he is in town? At this point, I don't think I will get the interview... I'm assuming he already knows whether or not I am accepted/rejected?

PS: My source is that I have a friend who knows the interviewer.

if he doesn't give anyone a call, then he's lazy. if he only doesn't call you, then...

If you haven't gotten an interview from this guy and are sure other people in your area have, I wouldn't take that as a sign he knows you're rejected or anything that depressing. What likely happened was he had a list of applicants to contact about an interview and could only get to a few of the ED ones before his reports were due--they were due to Admissions a week or two ago, you know--so he just couldn't get around to you before that date. Most likely nothing to do with him knowing your decision...they were still deciding after interview reports were due anyway.

Either that or you ended up on another local interviewer's list, and that interviewer just didn't check to see who he had to contact. It happens all the time.

Look at me...I sent in Part I of my ED application in September and was never contacted about an interview, and I live about 20 minutes outside of NYC--no shortage of local interviewers here. Sometimes these things just don't happen. I haven't let it worry me.

you should do on campus interview...? or is that an option?

I don't believe they do on-campus interviews at Columbia. (Maybe they do just for legacy students, which I know is a policy at some other schools.)

Eh, I did meet my admissions reader in person when she visited my school and I was able to speak with two professors on a campus visit (and mentioned that in my application)...all three were sort of "mini-interviews", so I'm hoping that perhaps that was taken into consideration and my official interview spot was given to somebody else who they really hadn't met at all.
