just letting you guys know i had my interview! I think it went pretty well and I was asked several of the basic questions.

Glad to hear the update, estargrl88. It's great that things went well.

Ugh, my Brandeis interviewer asked me "If you got into both Harvard and Brandeis, where would you attend?". I was so surprised that I waffled and said that it would be a very hard decision and would probably depend on financial aid packages. Other than that, it was an excellent interview...but I have to wonder if that question caused my Brandeis waitlisting. Think I should have just lied and said "Brandeis"?

I don't think that made the difference in the outcome. Brandeis is not surprised that students admitted to both choose Harvard, and to be honest I think if you answered Brandeis the interviewer would have thought you were being deceitful. If I was the interviewer, my next question whould have been "So then why are you bothering to apply to H?"

This is why, BTW, I always counsel people to list schools only slightly above the one they're talking to when asked where they've applied. A good answer is to list a slightly better school, a few peers, an few lesser, and a safety.

And estargrl88, I'm glad to hear the interview went well! BTW what of my "guarantee"? Did they ask you if you had any questions? Don't forget to send a thank-you note to the interviewer, just 2 or 3 sentences thanking them for their time and the opportunity to learn more about the school.

oh my gosh! good thing you reminded me of the thank you note since I totally forgot. I don't think the interviewer said exactly "do you have any questions", but she said that if I had any questions to just ask and so I did, since she did make a big deal of saying that
