Interview Request for ED Received Today

Hello,

I just got emailed for an interview today for Yale, whose release date is December 15th. What might this mean, and will it affect my decision?

In all honesty, it probably means their alumni interviewer flaked, never reached out to you, and either got a prod in his/her butt to contact you when the office realized they were missing an interview write-up in your file or they passed your file along to someone else who is reaching out to you now.

What it means for the decision is that it MAY be late, but they’re likely going to fast track it one way or another. I don’t think it’ll affect the choice one way or the other though.

Could this mean I’m on the edge either way because they needed the interview to make a full determination, or am I looking to much into it?

This happened to my D last year for a different college. She was asked for an interview very close to decisions being released. I suspect that she was perhaps in a pile of maybes, but we will never know. Dr. Devin, and OP might both have a point, and likely Dr. Devin is more correct. It could also just mean there was a backlog of people to be interviewed and they are trying to get through it all as best they can.

Dont get excited, and don’t read too much into it. There is no way to know. And no, my D didn’t get in.

ETA: I doubt this will affect your decision release date. All decisions are released at the same time, I can’t imagine they are going to single you out and tell you after everyone else. You can be sure that if you are being offered an interview now, others are too.

@tomatox1 - Don’t worry about when the decision date is. Do your interview like you would have if you had it on Nov 1st.

@tomatox1 Honestly, I wouldn’t read too much into them needing the interview as them being on the edge. Due to application fees and such, they probably want to make sure they have the full file before making a decision even if it was a clear YES or NO (so as to avoid a lawsuit from you if you didn’t get in or from someone else if it seemed like they were requiring less of other applicants).
