Interview soon....what to bring?

Hey all,
I have my interview next week, and my interviewer contacted me via e-mail, suggesting that i bring stuff (i.e. a resume, portfolio, writing sample, etc...) that could spark conversation.

I obviously plan on bringing my resume, but i feel that I need something tangible in order to be able to stand out for him. I am big into web design and video editing, so I was thinking of bringing my laptop and showing him some of the volunteer web design work I have done along with maybe a movie I made at governors school? Is this alright? Or should I not be bringing a computer along? Any other suggestions?

sure, that sounds great.

make sure there isnt an awkward silence when you start up the laptop.

Hey..let me know about the resume thing. I already interviewed and I brought my resume but my interviewer wouldn't even take it because he said he wasn't allowed to look at my scores or anything (he also refused a DVD of myself playing piano)

usually interviewers look at your resumes; I don't know why yours didn't

Yeah, my interviewers have always looked at my resume as a valuable resource.

I think it is a good idea to bring a resume in case they have to conduct many interviews and may not exactly remember every detail of their conversation with you, so they will have something to refer to when they write the report.

well, my interview just ended, and bringing the computer along was a great idea :)

we had much in common, and in fact, there was still plenty we could have talked about but he had another interviewee scheduled.
