Interview: Standard or Special?

I received an email today saying the following:

"Thank you for your application and interest in Cornell University. In an effort to provide you more information about Cornell, I'd like to set up a meeting with you early next week. This will be an informational meeting, made for the purpose of putting a personal face on Cornell by enthusiastic, informed volunteers such as myself to answer your questions and provide information about the university."

And then some personal sentences about where to meet and how she was an alumni class of 2002. Is this standard procedure or does this mean they are interested in me as an applicant? If anyone could shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

It’s standard; like they said, it’s just an informational meeting. Don’t worry about it, have fun with it, and ask lots of questions.

It will count very very little, IF ANYTHING towards admission since it is just informational, not evaluative like Hotel or AAP.

Definitely standard. Mine was very laid back and informational.

When did you submit your app? I did mine in late December and have not yet heard from any alums offering an interview.

^same submit mine in December too and i didn’t have an alum interview.

It doesn’t matter. We’ve already said this a thousand times. Plenty of people get accepted without interviews.

here’s another

Haha. Interview doesn’t mean anything special. It is a rather standard procedure for most applicants.
