I don't think there's a thread for this type of thing yet... If there is, well, it'll be moved.
Anyway, I think it would be interesting to hear about all of your interview stories/experiences/tips! I had my Andover and Exeter interviews already, and I think they went well. My Andover interviewer said that Andover would benefit from me and he introduced me to another Dean of Admissions person, so I'm feeling good about that. Exeter wasn't that bad either. My interviewer said that he thought I was a bit shy at first, but he was glad I opened up afterwards and that he wished we could continue talking! XD He also introduced me to the recently retired Director of Admissions and I chatted with him briefly while my parents were being interviewed. I don't know how big a part interviews weigh in, but I think mine went well! Neither schools asked me any really strange questions, but I have heard from others that some schools ask some really far out there questions. One interesting thing I noticed is that both interviewers mentioned to my parents to "take me out to ice cream/dinner" after the interview as a treat. Not sure if that is some universal school interviewer thing but I found it funny. Feel free to share any interview experiences below! :)>-

So excited I found a fellow applicant! If you don’t mind my asking, what grade are you applying for?

I actually just had my interview yesterday! Unfortunately, it was off-campus since we are a good bit away. Oh, sorry, I’m applying for Exeter. Anyway, I really do hope since my interview was off-campus, it won’t effect the admissions verdict as much.

I really liked my interview, and I thought it went really well. She asked normal questions, nothing bizarre, which was a relief. We talked about how all of the recent movies were based off dystopian novels and made many jokes throughout the interview. I just hope she thought it went as well as I did.

Also, how much do you think our interviews effect the admissions process?

@02gloves Your interview sounded like it went really well! I’m applying for 9th grade. How about you?

Hey guys! I’m new here. I’m also applying for 9th grade! Seems like your interviews went great! Good luck to your application!! I hope to see all of you there… although I probably won’t get accepted lol

@fluffymilk I’m applying for 10th. (cannot get over the fact we’re applying for the same school, probably because I haven’t really told anyone I’m applying but details). I am so so so anxious for March 10th. I heard they send it out through email. If they do send it through email (esp. before school starts), I’m very worried about my reaction.

@Selene1208 What school are you applying to?

@02gloves Same here. I’m going to be a nervous wreck on Marth 9th!

Exeter sends the email around 6:30 AM EST.

Just realized now that I said “Marth 9th.” Meant to say March 9th. Oops. :-/

@stargirl3 okay. okay. I wake up at 6. That’s only 30 minutes, give or take. Okay. (by the way, thanks for the response!! :-))

@02gloves My first M10 was a Sunday (2013). Many schools moved their decisions to M9, but the one I applied to didn’t. It was nice because I didn’t have to go to school that day.

Last year, I had 5 decisions by the time I went to school: 4 waitlists and 1 rejection. It wasn’t pretty. Combine that with Monday blues and… it wasn’t the best day.

Word of advice: if the school says they email at a certain time, wait 10-15 minutes before checking. Sitting with my mom and refreshing Gmail and CC every 30 seconds was awful.

Lawrenceville had a two hour delay last year. I pulled an all-nighter on CC, and I think the L’ville decision was supposed to come by 6, but I ended up waiting until 8.

@stargirl3 I will definitely use that advice when the time comes. Are you applying to more schools this year?

@02gloves Indeed. ;

Best of luck to everyone applying this year! I hope we all get into our top choices! It would be nice to all celebrate together. >:D<

@stargirl3 if you don’t mind my asking (Sorry, I’m super curious), what schools?

@02gloves I’m not posting my list publicly until March 10 but I’m happy to PM you. :)

@stargirl3 Want to PM me that list as well?

@stargirl3 Me too!

Let’s be happy for @stargirl3, and let her do her thing. At the time of College applications, as well, it is considered proper etiquette not to ask, and when you tell, you tell only where accepted.

If she says: “My top choice is Mont Cheshire,” and over the course of the time until March, she learns more and is convinced on March 10, that she is really in love with “Hillshire School,” where she is accepted, we will all still remember her as the girls who wanted to go to Mont Cheshire and had to settle for Hillshire. It really is not fair to Stargirl3 for you to ask. Let’s all play along together and anticipate the results together.

No need to share, publicly or privately, our ever-shifting hopes and landscape! I think we will all be happier that way.
