how much did you write in your thank you note?? and how long is too long to wait to write it? thanks

You need write only about 3 to 5 sentences. The first sentence thanks the interviewer for having taken the time to meet with you. You could then say maybe that you enjoyed your talk and appreciated the opportunity to learn more about X college. Then maybe mention something specific from your talk that you found interesting or that you want to look into or – you get the picture. At the end of the note I like to reiterate my interest in the position for which I’m applying. In this case you might say that, from all you have learned about X college, you feel that X college is a community of which you’d like very much to be a member. Say thank you again, and you’re done.

You send the thank-you note the same or next day. It’s easier to sound sincerely grateful when you write immediately after the interview. Two weeks after, it’s hard to seem all that grateful to the interviewer and excited about X college; after all, if you were all that grateful and excited, why weren’t you inspired to write earlier? Right? But even if you are tardy, send the note as soon as you can: it’s better late than never.
