Can anyone offer some tips for interviewing at boarding schools? Things to say and not to say, key things to do, anything would be really helpful. Also, as to the interview attire, I've heard that you're expected to dress "modestly," but I'm not sure what that specifically means. Any details or specific links to appropriate clothes would be much appreciated. Thanks!

As far as what to wear, at the minimum follow the school’s dress code, which you can generally find on their website. You will also see pictures of current student’s to see how they dress.

Re: what to wear, definitely follow @skieurope’s advice, and also make sure not to go overboard. I dressed kind of business-y.

No one is going to give you tips on what to say and what not to say, because the trick is to say what you want to say in a polite, respectful manner. They’re going to ask you questions about your family, your current school, your hobbies, your personality, etc. Take time to think about answers to questions such that you might get asked and answer in a clear, concise, thoughtful way at the interview. Spin a little humor or joy through the interview. Find a common thread with your interviewer and run with it. Always have a firm handshake, lots of eye contact, a calm and steady voice, and have fun!

Don’t be shy is probably the biggest thing. They do want to hear you talk.

I wore a suit and tie to all of the schools I visited.
