Hey! So, tomorrow I’m going to have
an interview for a student government group in my university. I did student govt. in high school, but tomorrow is going to be my first ever interview for something. Does anyone have any tips? Thanks!
I have no idea specifically, but in general:
Read the website/FB page of the group
Be able to articulate why you want to join the government group
Be able to discuss what you did in High School
Be able to talk about previous activities that the group has done and which ones you would be interested in
Make eye contact
Have a firm (but not too firm) handshake
Give more than one word answers, but don’t go on too long
Have a question prepared for “Do you have any questions for us”… like:
“What is your group’s biggest challenge”
or
“What are your goals for this year”
@bopper Thanks! I got the job as a floor representative!
Memorize the stories you’re going to use in advance for the… Typical questions like a difficult time with team members and how you dealt with it successfully. It’s really hard to come up with the answer to that on the spot…
