Interview tips??

Since I live in a excluded area I require all off-campus interviews. Any advice for them? I think my first one is going to be for Exeter and I really don’t want to mess this up !

Be yourself. Don’t panic. If you do, they will notice. They will also notice if you are not being yourself(don’t lie). Also, don’t be cheesy. You will know when you hit that border line. Most importantly, have fun! It is a misconception that these interviews are all serious. The admissions officers want to know if you can have a relaxed but formal conversation with an adult. Don’t worry about it and I know you will do great!

@bobd2902 Thank you so much!!!

I remember that I was soooooo nervous for my first interview but after I had finished I felt silly that I was so worked up in the first place. Here are some things that will help.

  1. Remeber that it isn’t just them asking you questions and you answering. It is a conversation and it should go back and forth, so ask questions!

  2. Be prepared with answers to some questions such as:
    -your favorite book?

    • favorite subject?
      -least favorite subject?
      -what are some strengths of yours?
    • what are your challenges?
      -what do you do outside of school?
    • Why boarding school?
    • Why Exeter? (Or other school)
  3. Be yourself. Don’t try and be somebody hat you aren’t. Let your personality shine though:)

  4. Always come prepared with questions. At the end, they will always ask if you have any questions. You NEVER should say no. Do you research and ask some questions specific to the school and program.

I am a current student at a boarding school in MA. If you have any questions about interviews, the application process, or just bs in general, feel free to PM me:) Best of luck!

@cababe97 Thank you so much! I feel much more confident after those tips you offered. I’ll pm you if I have any questions :slight_smile:
