Hi guys. I just had my interview with Choate yesterday and it was only about 20 minutes. I read a lot of comments on the forum saying that their interviews lasted from 45 minutes to 1 hour. So I am wondering if my interview was too short?

My kids interviewed at a number of schools (though not Choate), and they were not nearly as long as some people are reporting here. Even if the Choate interviews are normally longer, there are several reasons yours might have been short without reflecting poorly on you. So I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thanks You made me feel much better :)

Remember it’s the end of the application season. The admissions people have to pull everything together quickly. They have to read applications, have committee meetings, write letters, etc. March 10th is less than 2 months away.

I interview for my university. I frequently make interviews that are not going as well as could be expected longer in order to see if the applicant was nervous and opens up after some time has elapsed. When I am especially busy, if I know that an applicant is terrific I have a not too long interview because I have made my impression and don’t need more time. (unless the kid is totally obnoxious --happened once in all of the years-- then I cut it very short).

So don’t sweat it-- I sure it went just fine.

@chickendetective: My interview was 20 minutes as well…and then my parents was interviewed for around the same time. It adds up to around 40 minutes. At the other schools I applied to, the interviews were 20-30 minutes as well, and I did mine in pretty early. I see no reason to fret!
