Interview Weekend - What to expect?

I'm not exactly clear on this concept. Is this sort of like an, "If you don't screw it up, you have the job" type interview, or is it something else? Details and information about this would be helpful. Thanks.

there are loootttsss of posts about interview weekends -- what to expect, how to dress, what people did, what people shouldn't do, etc.

use the "search this thread" function, it's useful :)

Thanks. I did that before I posted but there is no logical way to get particular threads and many of them are irrelevant. I guess I'll try again.

This board officially sucks.

Wow. Or your patience and computer skills officially suck. Seriously, on the main page is one thread titled "Biology/Biomedical Sciences: Interview and accepted students weekends". Or as has been previously stated, go to that main page again and click "Search this forum" Put in the key words "Interview Weekend" and 2 pages of results show up.

If you still are having problems, try asking a specific question, not a request for general information that would take tons of time on someone's part to provide for you (especially when with a little work you could come up with the same information for yourself). For instance, at least give us information on the discipline to which you are applying. What to expect from an interview weekend will vary quite a lot from Biology to Business to ________. Did the e-mail tell you to prepare to be recruited? Are they funding your whole visit or are you paying your way up? This information can help you get a more informed, relevant answer to your question.

If you get this frustrated after two days of not being spoon fed information that you can research on your own I have serious doubts about your ability in grad school. Good luck with things.

............

Who said I took offense? I was trying to help you find the answer you were looking for by suggesting better ways of approaching your problem.

The truth of the matter is every situation (discipline, school, etc) is different and asking a broad question on an international, anonymous board probably will not net you very good specific answers.

So I will try again. "Give us information on the discipline to which you are applying. What to expect from an interview weekend will vary quite a lot from Biology to Business to ________. Did the e-mail tell you to prepare to be recruited? Are they funding your whole visit or are you paying your way up?"

If I can offer any relevant insight once I know more about your specific situation I will be happy to do so.

There's no way to answer this question generally, because different fields and different programs have different ideas about the use of interviews. In some fields and programs, many people are cut after the interview, and in others, almost everyone is accepted after the interview.

It's difficult to give a decent answer about anything graduate school admissions-related unless you specify your field, degree, and perhaps the programs you're talking about.

EDIT: Sorry New_User, crosspost. :)
