Interview weight

I had my interview yesterday, and I think my interviewer wrote good things about me. He was even nice enough to say that he thought I had a good chance at being accepted. So, how much is the interview weighted?

Princeton is the only ivy league school I applied to, so I'm getting more nervous every day over whether I will be accepted or not. I really want to go here!

Not really. I got an excellent interview, but I still got deferred. It doesn't make or break you unless you did something horrible or showed lack of interest in that school

Did either of your interviewers say something like "Now don't be upset if you don't get in" or something?

My interviewer, after he told me that he thought I had a good shot, said something like "Now my interview report doesn't count for everything. It won't get you in. I haven't even seen your transcript and test scores."

Think of interviews as pass/fail. A bad one could hurt you; a good one just keeps you in the mix. The purpose of interviews is to screen out people with clear anti-social tendencies and to keep alumni invested in the school. They are not a major factor in admissions at Princeton.
